7 Ways DFM Can Reduce PCBA Manufacturing Cost and Production Problems

Many PCBA production problems do not actually begin on the production line.

They begin during the PCB design stage.

Design for Manufacturability, commonly called DFM, is the process of reviewing an electronic design before manufacturing to identify potential production risks.

A proper DFM review can help hardware companies reduce cost, improve production yield and shorten development time.

1. PCB Layout Optimization

Component placement can directly affect assembly quality.

Components positioned too close together may create difficulties during solder paste printing, component placement, rework or inspection.
